WELCOME TO OUR LAVENDER WORLD! Recognizing the growing lavender industry in Texas, the Texas Lavender Association was founded as a Texas nonprofit in 2008 to promote the lavender industry. Members consist of lavender growers and other lavender-centered businesses. During the lavender season, many of the lavender farms are open to the public, but throughout the year you will find lavender growers at farmers markets and festivals. Their products can be found at specialty shops and many offer online ordering. If you are a merchant looking for wholesale products; some TLA members specialize in wholesale. Check with individual members for farm openings, bloom status, product specialties and where you can find them throughout the year.
In February of 2011, the
Texas Lavender Association hosted the
4th Southwest Lavender Conference in Kerrville, TX at the Y.O. Conference Center. Go to
www.texaslavenderconference.com for the 2011 agenda. Attendees from New York to Puerto Rico attended the conference, confirming the growth of lavender as a thriving agribusiness. The conference was made possible through the Texas Department of Agriculture and a Specialty Crop Grant. Plans are underway for a 2012 conference in cooperation with other southwest area lavender associations. The Specialty Crop Grant has also provided exposure to our growing industry by sponsoring guest chefs at food festivals.
